These irresistible cookie bars gets incredibly rich flavor from the addition of browned butter, simply butter that has been heated to a deep golden brown, creating a deliciously toasty, nutty taste.
Makes 9 cookie bars

Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup salted butter
¼ cup sugar
5 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 egg
3 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
2. In a small pan, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Stir continuously for 2 to 3 minutes until the foam disappears and the butter releases a nutty, toasted aroma. Turn off the heat. Pour the butter into a large bowl and let it cool for at least 2 minutes.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together. To the bowl with the brown butter, add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and egg. Whisk until combined. Incorporate the flour mixture and mix until just blended. Fold in the chocolate chips.
4. Place the dough in the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for 20 to 24 minutes, or until the dough is fully set and cooked through. Take it out of the oven and allow it to rest for at least 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
