Crispy, savory, salty, golden slices of pure deliciousness. Tostones are twice-fried plantains made with green plantains that are peeled, sliced, fried, smashed, and then fried again. Serve as a side dish with your meal, or as an appetizer.

Ingredients:
2 large green plantains
canola oil
Goya Adobo to taste
Directions:
1. With a sharp knife, gently peel the green plantains lengthwise. Cut the plantains into 1-inch pieces. Set them aside.

2. In a skillet, heat about 1-2 inches of oil over medium-high heat.
3. Place the plantain slices in the skillet. Fry them for approximately 2 minutes per side. Remove them and let them drain on a cookie sheet lined with paper towels to soak up the excess oil.

4. Flatten the plantains to a thickness of approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch using a plate or a plantain press.

5. Fry the smashed plantains for 2-3 minutes in the same skillet until they are golden brown on both sides.

6. Remove and drain on paper towels, then sprinkle with Goya Adobo all-purpose seasoning. Enjoy!

TIPS: You can transfer the oil to an airtight container and reuse it at a later time if you’d like.
